The Rock: Social Media usage in Gibraltar and neighbouring Spain.

Tweeting intensity in Gibraltar, a British settlement just south of Spain.  Analysis of the two twitter feeds from Gibraltar and the town north of it in Spain shows some interesting variations.

Firstly the two populations are linguistically segregated.  In Gibraltar almost every tweet is in English, just north of the border ever tween is in Spanish.  You also see that Gibraltar has very close real time ties to the UK.  Many people tweet about returning to the UK.  Also their is a great deal of anti-Spanish  feeling, but it seems more interested in football.

On the Spanish side you tend to see more tweeting at all time, almost all tweeting in Spanish and little of it about vacations.
